Ugly Betty
Ugly Betty is a good show! Watch it! The only problem I have with the show is the very purposeful implications that her young nephew has huge gender identity issue (age 10 and sits in the house all day watching fashion television and secretly read fashion magazine - come on). There are also implications of premarital sex and very tame underwear shots. Therefore, it is not a good show for kids under the teenage years.
I think the reason to watch it is America Ferrara. She did a great job of portraying a smart, honest and kind young woman who really has no idea that others find her so unattractive. I also have to compliment the writers of the show for walking a fine line between making fun of less attractive people and showing them in a very positive light. I have hope that Ms. Ferrara and the writers of the show will continue to develop her character in a positive way.

The end is truly near. Fat people are modeling down Paris runways, and now ugly people have their own TV shows.
The only way I could watch a show with this chick on it is if it were on radio. Like I said before…WHOA!!!
Seriously though, I’m sure this actress is not THAT ugly. Do you know anything about her? And how do they…umm….do that to her? I’m sure the clothes and accessories have a lot to do with it.
And what if a woman actually looked like Betty in real life? Do you think she’d be insulted by the title and premise of the show? Or be oblivious to it? Ugly people, like fat people, are one of the few groups you can still make fun of, probably because they aren’t a minority. At least where I live.
America Ferrera, as a younger teenager (14 or so) was in one or two Disney movies that my daughter liked. She’s alway s been, well not fat, but just not thin. I’m sure she is very nice looking, but they do dress up down (or strangely) in the show. I am curious as to how the character will develop over the show. I certainly hope that there is no transformation to runway model type, but just a blossoming of her God-given inner beauty.
I am sure that there are people who look like “Betty” . They are the ones who don’t notice that their clothes don’t match, their hair is not styled well and have odd personal traits. I’m expecting that is what will change about Betty and not a huge transformation.

So far we are really enjoying this show. I’m hoping that we continue to see more transformations in the people around her than we do in her.
Betty is very creative and loyal, isn’t she? Its too bad she got such abuse on her first day of work. that show is fun watching,it reminds us of life’s greatest rejections
