The following people are up for the Katie’s Beer Spam Award for July. Vote for your favorite candidate below. I try to scan the spam once in a great while just in case someone’s message gets put in there. I am intrigued by the wording of some of the spam and really wonder if a human or a computer is generating the text. I suppose I should spend my time wondering about more important things, but I find this stuff pretty funny. Did you know that, with some spam emails, if you do a search for some of the text (the part you can see without clicking on the email), you usually can find that the phrases have been lifted from a work of literature in another country. I find that interesting.

If you click on the link above, you will see that this particular spam text was lifted from the online work of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, Russian science fiction writers. Perhaps the spammer is following directions or cutting and pasting from someone else, but perhaps the spammer is a would-be scholar. A poetic, but unlikely scenario.
