The true beauties of American Idol 2005

We just returned from our son’s 7th and 8th grade musical. We have kept ourselves in the dark about the winner and we are watching the American Idol finals right now. I love our PVR. I staying on my blog and not looking anywhere else. I just watched the opening act with all twelve idols and I have to say this:

Constantine and Nadia are still the true stars of this season.

They both sang with confidence, strength and style. I expect good things for them! I consider Anwar a close third, in overall talent package, and I love his new look! I also think that Mikayla has potential for something, but I’m not sure for what yet. I also liked Nikko, but maybe just because I remember his dad doing backflips in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

  1. If only Nikko would have incorporated the backflip into his routine, perhaps the outcome for him would have been different. (Sigh). Kids.

By the way, if you remember his dad doing backflips in the HHH Metrodome, does this mean you were in attendance for the 1987 World Series? In which case I am doubly depressed- for the facts that you actually were able to attend a WS game, and that the Twins were able to beat the Cardinals. And to think I was almost over it after 18 years!

  2. Yes, I was at one of the 1987 games. One of my brothers camped out all night to get tickets and then we had to beg him to let us buy two. I can still locate Rob and I on the offical World Series video tape. We were way, way up high. It was so very loud and so exciting! It was also great to beat the Cardinals, coming from behind like that. I think I could hear the entire state cheering. It seemed that the Twin Cities shut down for a day. What a great experience!

At least you aren’t a Braves fan! Now, that was an embarrassing series with all those Braves doing that stupid chant. I’m glad we beat them. I couldn’t go to the 1991 series because I was 7 months pregnant with our son!

  3. Oh, great, not only did you get to attend one of the games and see the Twins win, but you’re on the official World Series Video. Please, please, no matter what, if you actually met some of the players- keep it to yourself! You’re killing me! Okay, I’m through whining. If anybody needs me, I’ll be crawling into a ditch somewhere.

  4. The Twin Cities is a pretty small place compared to many cities with major league teams. The players are pretty easy to see around town. I taught in the same preschool that Kirby Puckett’s kids attended, vacationed at the same place and time as Kent Hrbek’s family, talked to Juan Rincon just last year and talked to Terry Steibach when my son’s baseball team played his son’s team. I’m sure I can think of more, but I don’t want to continue to “kill” you.

Scotty, my husband and son LIVE for baseball. I’ve tried to get my hubbie to blog about it, but he’s too busy coaching! My son is an excellent player and hopes to play in high school, college and beyond. Rob’s dad played minor league and Rob played college ball for one year. Kiihnworld is definitely a baseball place! I don’t write about baseball often because I get SICK of it! Not my boys, though. They never get sick of baseball. We vacationed at Cooperstown last year! Rob wants to go back this year. ugh…

  5. I’m sure he does want to go back-Cooperstown ROCKS! Don’t worry, it will grow on you. You just need to go more often!

And the world needs more good baseball blogs. I’d like my son to blog about baseball also (like Dan at Get Up, Baby, another high schooler), but he doesn’t want to do it. Coaching is great, but how can your husband put up with the parents?

  6. Funny you should mention that… Can’t go into that one on this blog. :) You’ve obviously coached before.
