Daughter starts high school today!
My oldest child started high school today. Although it is a big milestone in our lives, I hadn’t expected to be emotional about it. And I wasn’t. It was a very happy morning. She was so excited and nervous. She looked so happy and pretty, as only a mother can notice. She acted so maturely; this was nice to see especially since she likes to swing from both sides of the responsibility tree! We arrived 45 minutes early this morning because she wanted to set up her locker. I had helped her bring in some locker supplies and was standing with her at her locker as more and more kids arrived. I started to become conscious that I was the only parent around and that I’d better leave before someone made fun of her! It was fun to be in a school again! I always loved the excitement of the first day of school and I think I passed that sense of excitement on to my daughter.
the first day of HS can be the most frightening, and greatest, day of a persons life!!! I can remember mine very clearly( I am 20, good guess!!!) and i think i will remember it forever. and don’t worry about having kids see you there with your daughter. when i started high school, alot of parents did it. it can be hard getting everything situated!!
